State Sen. Mark Herring of Loudoun, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for attorney general, released his first TV ad of the campaign season Thursday.
In the 30-second ad titled "Believe," Herring looks into the camera and says "I'm Mark Herring, and here's what I believe:
"Politicians should stay out of your private decision to use birth control, leaders have a responsibility to protect our families from gun violence, and suppressing the right to vote is downright un-American."
This is followed by a narrator speaking over footage of Herring talking with various people.
"Mark Herring—the backbone to do what’s right for Virginia: Defend a woman’s right to choose, expand background checks for gun sales, and put an end to voter ID laws that suppress the right to vote," the narrator says.
Herring will face off against former federal prosecutor Justin Fairfax in the June 11 Democratic primary election.
