A storm system that brought a tornado to Seaford in York County on Thursday dropped copious amounts of rain on parts of Gloucester, while other areas escaped the inundation.
Gloucester Supervisor Carter Borden said around his home in the White Marsh area of Gloucester received 6 1/2 inches of rain in the thunderstorm.
Rainfall totals in other parts of Gloucester he's heard ranged from 3/4 of an inch in Cappahosic to about 4 inches around Sadler's Neck.
The Weather Channel reported Gloucester received 0.29 inches of rain.
Whatever the case, navigating Route 17 from about Providence Road to Powhatan Drive yesterday evening about 7 p.m. was a bit dicey. Here's a photo of the Crewe Road intersection, which was quite wet, to put it mildly.
