The American Military Spouses Choir, which includes Fort Eustis resident Sonjia Penny, will find out tonight whether it will soar ahead in the "America's Got Talent" competition, carried in arms of the angels.
Tuesday night, the group performed "Angel," the 1998 Sarah McLachlan hit, and received mixed reaction from the show's judges.
Heidi Klum said, "This was very powerful ... I love what you stand for," only to be interrupted by fellow judge Howie Mandel who said they were judging the group on their performance, not who they are married to. Members of the American Military Spouses Choir are married to active-duty military service men.
"I love what you're all about, but I don't know if it was the best of the best," Stern said.
The fourth judge, Mel B, also expressed doubts. "Is it going to be good enough? I'm not sure," she said.
Tonight, the choir will find out whether viewers voted them through to the finals of the competition. The semi-final results episode of "America's Got Talent" airs 9 p.m. tonight on NBC.
