The Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society will hold an estate sale on Saturday in Middlesex County to benefit the animal shelter.

The estate was owned by John "Jack" Phillip Derr Kauffman, who died last year, said a spokeswoman for the organization. The furnishings of the home will be sold in a single-day sale, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on site at 185 Regent Point Drive in Topping.

Among the highlights of the sale are an American longcase clock circa 1810, an 18th century Scottish bracket clock, Tiffany china, reproductions from Colonial Williamsburg and other items, said Amanda Wroten, executive director of the humane society.

The sale is being orchestrated by Janice Jones of Roane's Antiques and the Cottage in Mathews.

An annual garage sale organized by the staff of the Gloucester-Mathews-Middlesex Animal Shelter will be held simultaneously. To make donations, contact Ariel Matthews at 804-693-5520 or Betsy Henderson at 804-694-9493 for additional information.

“This estate sale is the result of the generosity of our community,” Wroten said. “We are grateful to the family of Mr. Kauffman for donating his estate, and we are indebted to the expertise and generosity of Janice Jones and Roane’s Antiques and the Cottage for her overwhelming support of this sale.”
