Woman Killed, Passenger Injured In Windham Crash

WINDHAM — A 20-year-old local woman was killed in a one-car crash on Route 6 early Sunday morning.

State police said Emily Joy Marrotte was westbound on Boston Post Road when she lost control of her vehicle while negotiating a curve. Marrotte's vehicle continued on the shoulder of the roadway and went down an embankment, police said, striking the Windham Airport fence.

Marrotte was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Passenger Lydia Jane Pepin, 21, of Mansfield Center, was taken to Windham Hospital, then flown to Hartford Hospital by helicopter.

Pepin's condition was not released. The accident remains under investigation.
