A driver was arrested after he struck two pedestrians in New London Wednesday night, police said. The man and woman who were in a marked crosswalk when they were struck survived, police said.
Ariam Martinez-Colon, 22, of Linden Street in New London, was arrested and charged with failure to grant the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, police said.
According to police, they received several 911 calls about a pedestrian being struck by a car at the intersection of Montauk Avenue and Steward Street. When officers arrived, they found two victims, a 55-year-old man with leg injuries and a 58-year-old woman suffering from neck and back injuries.
