Solicitor: Lehigh Township shouldn't try to force rec fee payments

Lehigh Township officials have been advised not to insist on payment of recreation fees from developers over setting aside land for parks and other community activities. Responding to a matter that came up during the Board of Supervisors meeting Aug. 11, township solicitor David Backenstoe said Tuesday he didn't believe the board could pass an ordinance that would mandate the payment of recreation fees instead of accepting land set aside for recreational use.
