The Hanson Brothers of the 1977 cult classic film Slapshot are returning to celebrate the Johnstown's beloved hockey history.
On Thursday, Dec. 13, the Johnstown Tomahawks will host a special screening of Slapshot at Westwood Plaza Theatre at 7 p.m.
That Friday, all three Hanson brothers will appear for “Hanson Brothers Night” at the War Memorial Arena when the Tomahawks return from a six-game road trip.
Fans are invited for the brothers’ historic return to the arena for a night that will celebrate the city and hockey. Prices begin at $8 per ticket. Call 814-536-4625 to reserve seats.
On Thursday, Dec. 13, the Tomahawks, along with Steve Carlson, invite fans to view the film at the Westwood Plaza Theatre at 7 p.m. The evening will feature a Q&A session with Carlson about the making of the movie, and attendees can get a ticket, sandwich, bottomless popcorn, and drink for $25.

They remain an important part of the cultural history here, and the return of hockey to Johnstown goes hand-in-hand with the return of the Hansons.”
This week, the Tomahawks will head out on the road for six games in three weeks, first playing in Jamestown on Nov. 23 and 24 before a West Coast swing that will take them to Wenatchee, Wash. on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 and Fresno, Calif. the following weekend.
