Stoystown Volunteer Fire Department spaghetti dinner, sponsored by Kantner United Methodist Church, 4:30 to 7 p.m. April 20 at Kantner United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Free will donation. Takeouts are available. Proceeds benefit the purchase of the fire company’s new tanker.

5000 Meter Classic
The Johnstown Christian School 30th annual 5000 Meter Classic at 9 a.m. May 11 at the school on Soap Hollow Road, south of Johnstown off Route 403 at Tire Hill. Trophies, medals, ribbons awarded. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the soccer field behind the school. 814-288-2588 or 814-629-9846.
Rally Against Cancer
The 6th annual Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament Rallying Against Cancer starts at 8 a.m. April 20 in Berlin Brothersvalley Middle School gym. Twelve teams from four states competing for first place. Concession stand items: baked goods, fruit salad, soup, lunch sandwiches, snacks and drinks available. Matching funds from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Somerset County Chapter. The Salvation Army- Somerset Service Center annual fishing derby between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. May 18 at the Laurel Ridge Sportsman’s Association Inc., 2908 Coxes Creek Road, Somerset. Children between the ages of 3 and 16 are invited to participate in the event. Trophies and prizes will be awarded for biggest bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish and trout. The registration fee includes lunch sponsored by the Laurel Ridge Sportsman’s Association Inc.
