Larry and Sandy Shober of Berlin have marked their 50th wedding anniversary with a gathering at The Lodge at Hillside in Berlin.
Larry and the former Sandra Stahl were married April 19, 1963, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Frostburg, Md. by the Rev. Kenneth Morelock.
Larry retired as assistant general manager of Somerset Rural Electric Cooperative. He served in the Air National Guard, is a member and president of The Roof Garden Barbershop Chorus, the Somerset County 4-H Development Council, the Somerset County Industrial Development Authority and the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoys hunting, fishing, golf, playing cards and working on the family sheep farm.
Sandy retired from the Berlin Area School District as an elementary teacher. She served on the Retired Senior Volunteer Program advisory council, is a volunteer with the AARP tax aide program and enjoys reading, crossword puzzles and playing cards.
Both are active members of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Berlin and volunteer with Boy Scout Troop 135 of Berlin. They enjoy traveling, having visited 50 states as well as South America, Tanzania, Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
They are the parents of two sons, Braden of Shanksville, and Bryan of Berlin. They have three grandchildren.
