Richard Thomas Ashmen, 83, of Boynton, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Oct. 24, 1928, in Hamilton Township, N.J., he was the son of the late Harry and Edith (Kenney) Ashmen. He was also preceded in death by a son, James Edgar Cubberley. Mr. Ashmen was a machinist for General Motors and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Lois (Turp) Ashmen; a daughter, Virginia C. Long and husband, David L., Cape Charles, Va.; six grandchildren, Sgt. Christopher G. Cubberley and wife, Christina, Richard C. Cubberley, Del L. Long, II, Jessica Lee Long, James Dixon Long and Jordan T. Long and a great-grandson, Riley J. Cubberley. A graveside service will be conducted in the Greenwood Cemetery (Hamilton entrance), Hamilton, N.J. on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012 at 2 p.m. A memorial service will be held at a later date, for information please contact Maple Glen Mennonite Church, Grantsville, Md.
