Betty Beam Wohlsen, the daughter of Merle and Elizabeth Beam, made the donation. According to museum member Nancy Pruchnic, Wohlsen's father Merle Beam taught school and was the principle at the Windber high school for many years.
"Beam was active in many organizations including the Rotary Man of the year, District Governor of Rotary, and served as the president of the library," Pruchnic explained. "He was also on the board that built the Windber Stadium."
Beam owned and operated Beam Attractions.
Pruchnic added that Beam was a patron of Whitaker so he owned quite a few of his paintings.
