SOMERSET — Ethan Svonavec pitched a complete-game shutout allowing five hits as the Lions blanked SDC Building Center 6-0 in Somerset Little League baseball action.
Dane Revello had two hits for SDC. Colton Stutzman, Ethan Fulmer and Kalton Kreiger added base hits.
Pizza Hut wins pair
SOMERSET — Pizza Hut won a pair of Somerset Major League games Saturday in a doubleheader, 15-0 over Mick’s Custom Painting and 22-7 over Kern Brothers Lumber.
In Game 1, Elijah Breegle, Scott Showman and Braden Lohr each went 3-for-3 while Brennan Emerick, Shane Roberts and Austin Heitzer added two hits apiece. Mick’s had Caleb Chabol with a base hit.
In the second game, Roberts had the hot bat for Pizza Hut going 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBIs. Breegle, Spencer Marteeny and Michael Meyer went 4-for-4 at the plate. Kern Brothers had Seth Maranowski and Scott Watkins with three hits apiece.
SDC 5, FOE 4
SOMERSET — Winning pitcher Colton Stutzman pounded out three hits as SDC Building Center beat the No. 1-ranked Fraternal Order of Eagles 5-4 in a Somerset Little League baseball showdown on Saturday.
Dane Revello, who doubled, and Ethan Fulmer smacked two hits apiece. Ryan Yachere singled and Kaulton Kreiger doubled.
FOE’s stats included Carter Geary with a double and Georgie Coyle, Connor Beachy and Jake Swauger each with a single.
Stoystown 15, Portage 0
CAIRNBROOK — B.J. Heinrich threw a three-inning no-hitter with six strikeouts as Stoystown opened its American Legion baseball season with a 15-0 win over Portage on Sunday.
Tyler Funa batted 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs. Lance Blough ripped an RBI double. Jordan Shroyer scored twice and drove in a pair. Grant Speigle and Wade Walker each contributed two RBIs. Adam Naugle had two hits, including a double. Brett Hart and Ryan Fyock each scored twice.
Boswell wins two
BOSWELL — Dalton Rice picked up the mound win and tagged two triples at the plate in Boswell’s 7-4 Junior American Legion baseball win over Farmington on Sunday.
Paul Tretter, Derek Mullen and Bailey Kimmel added base hits for the victors.
Zach Maluchnik pounded out three hits, including a double, as Boswell beat Jerome 13-5 on Saturday.
Rice and Joe Fisher each had a single and a double. Paul Tretter provided a pair of hits. Fisher posted the mound win with relief help from Shane Supanick, who struck out seven batters.
PH improves to 8-1
SOMERSET — Pizza Hut improved to 8-1 in Somerset Major League baseball with a 17-14 win over Kern Brothers Lumber on Sunday.
Shane Roberts had the big bat for Pizza Hut, going 3-for-4 with grand slam home run. Pizza hut also had Brennan Emerick and Elijah Breegle with three hits apiece. Kern’s had Colton Walker going 5-for-5 at the plate and Seth Maranowski and Isaac Svonavec with three hits a piece.
Meyersdale 10, Richland 8
JOHNSTOWN — Justin Donaldson had a three-run home run and Ben Lohr fanned 15 batters in relief as Meyersdale rallied for a 10-8 win over Richland Sunday in American Legion baseball action.
Richland jumped out to a 6-0 lead on the strength of a Brad Ditzler three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. Chris Schrock had three hits for Meyersdale and Tyler Mayhugh had a two-run double. Jake Wissinger had three hits and Alex Paros had a double and a single for Richland.
