Ethel (Maust) Johnson, 88
Ethel (Maust) Johnson, 88, joined her Savior and Lord on Oct. 29, 2011, after a series of health issues over the last six months and a brief stay at the In-Touch Hospice House. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Lucy (Darr) Maust, and sister of passed siblings Park Maust, Norman Maust, Guy Maust, Margaret Nair, Neva Miller and Nina Schlosnagle. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Donald Johnson; children: Joyce (Johnson/Emert) Stern, Alan Johnson, and Crystal (Johnson) Reiber, all of Somerset; granddaughters: Rachel (Reiber) Calabrase and husband Michael of Woodstock, Va. and Sarah (Reiber) Accordino and husband Joe of Cortland Manor, N.Y.; sister Hazel (Maust) Airesman of Somerset; surviving stepgrandchildren and spouses: M/M Robert Stern of Berlin, M/M Barry Stern of N.C., and M/M Kenneth Stern of Washington, D.C.; and stepgreat-grandchildren: Cory, Devin, Shaina, Seth and Brandon Stern, and Michael, Alex, Maura, Ken, Angel and Esther Reithmeyer (children of Yvonne [Stern] and Russ Reithmeyer). Ethel was an active church member of the Somerset Church of the Brethren and held 69 years of perfect attendance in Sunday school. She was a member of chancel choir, was a past Bible school teacher and assisted in her Sunday school class as pianist for devotions. She and Donald served as active deacons. She worked during WWII, when her husband was in the service, in the Recorder of Deeds office with her sister Nina at the Somerset County Courthouse in Somerset. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Somerset. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Somerset Church of the Brethren, 606 Berlin Plank Road, Somerset, PA 15501, with one calling hour prior to the service. The Rev. Roger Forry and Pastor Paul Leipelt officiating. Interment at Somerset County Memorial Park.
