What started as a simple business proposal is becoming something more for a father and daughter who recently opened a massage clinic in Western Springs.
Greg and Sarah Clark opened Elements Therapeutic Massage in the Garden Market Shopping Center on Gilbert Avenue.
The clinic, which opened last week, offers deep-tissue, sports massage and Swedish-style light massage.
"It is geared toward people being well," Greg Clark said of the therapeutic approach to massage.
Greg, 60, said he selected Elements as a family business after his research showed the massage industry was "growing double-digits in an economy that's fairly stagnant."
Greg recently retired from a job as a global supply-chain specialist for Diversey Holdings Inc. He said he bought the rights to three clinics.
Sarah, who studied interior design, lives in Chicago, where the family plans to open a second clinic soon. After they open a clinic in Chicago's South Loop they might open one in Arizona, where he and his wife, Bonnie, go during the winter, Greg said. Greg and Bonnie live in Racine, Wis.
Elements is a national franchise company with more than 130 clinics in the U.S., according to the company's website.
