Book sale in Clarendon Hills
A wide variety of books, DVDs and CDs will be available for sale at rock-bottom prices at the annual Clarendon Hills Public Library Book Sale, at 7 N. Prospect Ave., from
Thursday, June 13 through Monday, June 17. Sale hours are Thursday and Monday, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. On Monday only, the library will run a bag sale. Shoppers may purchase a bag for $5 and fill it with items of their choosing.

Elmhurst College Jazz Band performance
The Elmhurst College Jazz Band will perform during the "WDCB Jazz Salon at Mayslake" on Thursday, June 13 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County's Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook.
Tickets are $18 to $25. Seating opens at 7 p.m., and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Mayslake Peabody Estate is located at 1717 W. 31st St. in Oak Brook. Purchase tickets by calling Mayslake at 630-206-9566.
Guided tours of Mayslake Hall will be available before the concert at 6:30 p.m. for $5 per person. The tours explore the history of the estate and the restoration projects now benefiting the hall.
Father's Day Barbecue in Lisle
Treat dad to a southern barbecue, featuring ribs, beef brisket, pulled pork and roasted chicken at the Morton Arboretum from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 16. Plus, visitors explore the arboretum's Tree House Tales and Big Bugs exhibitions as a family.

Malaysian martial art demo in Woodridge
Jen Para is the highest ranked woman in the Silat Seni Gayong form of martial arts outside of Southeast Asia. She has traveled to Malaysia for cultural understanding and training in empty-hand and weapons by high-ranking Gayong masters. Rotary Grove Craft Fair June 22-23
The Downers Grove Junior Woman's club is sponsoring this year's Grove Fest Craft Show at Fishel Park, 1036 Grove St., Downers Grove. Teen musicians sought for music fest
Musicians ages 12 to 19 are encouraged to submit an application to the Indian Prairie Public Library to be considered for a spot in The Sound, a teen musical festival featuring performances on Friday, June 28 starting at 6 p.m. in Borse Park in Willowbrook. The library is looking for groups, bands, solos, and duos of any style. Applications are available online at thesound.ippl.info or at the Ask Us Desk in the Kids & Teens Department.
