Mayor Rahm Emanuel declared it Paint the Town Red Day, in honor of the event and in recognition of the honorees, who included John Logan, playwright and screenwriter; Madeleine Grynsztejn, director of the Museum of Contemporary Art; James Rondeau, Art Institute of Chicago curator; and Patricia Cox; outgoing Goodman chairman.
Co-chairs Sherry and Tom Barrat, Julie and Roger Baskes, Linda and Peter Bynoe and Sara Szold hosted this record-breaking season-opener that raised more than $450,000.
The Joffrey Ballet's Couture and Cocktails is known for its fun food, dynamic fashion shows and the Joffrey dancers. The sixth annual edition was no exception.
More than 500 guests attended this party that was co-chaired by Kristina McGrath and Rebecca Besser, and included a fall fashion show by American designer David Meister. Before the fashion show, the Joffrey Ballet's Exelon Strobel Step-Up dancers performed.
This year, $250,000 was raised to help sustain Joffrey programming as well as provide dance and educational opportunities to thousands of Chicago students with the ballet company's outreach programs.
