5A: Joliet Catholic 28, Kaneland 0

Joliet Catholic running back Michael Ivlow has 221 yards rushing on nine carries and touchdown runs of 16, 24, 67 and 80 yards as the Hilltoppers are pounding visiting Kaneland in a 5A second-round contest.

Kaneland moved the ball effectively on its first three drives, totaling 118 yards of offense, but saw each one stall at the Joliet Catholic 29, 37 and 21 yard lines.

And each time the Hilltoppers made them pay.

Ivlow went for the 67-yard score on his first touch and scored three more times, all in the final 5 minutes, 13 seconds of the half.

The winner will play either Montini or Marian Central in a quarterfinal.

8A: Neuqua Valley 20, Simeon 14

Two of Neuqua's touchdowns have come after blocked punts.

Andrew Fraczek blocked the first one, and Nolan Dean recovered the ball in the end zone as the Wildcats pulled to within 14-12 with 4 minutes, 54 seconds left in the second quarter.

Dean blocked the second with 26 seconds left in the second, returning it 30 yards for a score. He also ran in the 2-point conversion for a 20-14 Wildcats' lead.

Before that, Simeon's Maurice Burton had a 69-yard interception return, only to fumble before reaching the goal line. The ball bounced out of the end zone for a touchback.

Jordan Jackson had touchdown runs of 14 and 2 yards for Simeon, and Broc Rutter threw a 12-yard scoring pass to Mikey Dudek for Neuqua.

A Wildcats drive was stopped at Simeon's 15 in the second quarter as the Wolverine's Darnell Cockrell broke up three straight passes to Dudek, including two in the end zone.
