Naperville Unit District 203 has inked a four-year contract with its custodians and maintenance workers.

The school board approved the deal Monday for 147 members of the Naperville Unit Maintenance Association.

In the first year, employees will receive a pay increase of $1 per hour and in year two, they will get a 3 percent raise. The increases in the third and fourth years will be equal to the Consumer Price Index, but not less than 1.4 percent or more than 2.5 percent, district officials said in a news release.

The contract also eliminates step increases typically given for having additional years of experience. In the upcoming school year, hourly rates for custodians and maintenance workers will range from $13.25 to $24.49.

Superintendent Dan Bridges and NUMA president Paul Marsala both said in the release they believe the new contract is fair for both employees and taxpayers.
