Five area high schools made U.S. News & World Report's annual list of the country's best.

U.S. News profiled more than 19,000 public schools across the country and ranked the highest 4,707 based on state test scores and college readiness.

Metea Valley High School in Aurora; 29 in state, 669 nationally

Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville; 30 in state, 683 nationally

Naperville Central High School in Naperville; 38 in state, 828 nationally

Naperville North High School in Naperville; 44 in state, 1025 nationally

Lisle High School in Lisle; 57 in state, 1,460 nationally
