Naperville has tapped Joliet's finance director to be its own, the city announced Friday.
Rachel Mayer was chosen from more than 200 applicants to replace Karen DeAngelis, who is retiring.
"Rachel Mayer has an extensive background in budget and accounting, specifically in the public sector, which is a great asset to our team," City Manager Doug Krieger said in a news release. "I have no doubt Rachel will make a smooth transition to our Finance Department and will be able to provide our City with strong fiscal management as we continue to navigate what is still a challenging economic climate."
Mayer's work experience prior to her position in Joliet includes capital budget manager for the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority and a budget analyst for the governor's office, according to the city. She has a bachelor's degree in accounting from St. Xavier University and is a certified public accountant.
Mayer will begin working for the city on March 31 with a base salary of $137,500. DeAngelis is staying with the city until April 30.
