Among concerns about the World Cup has been crime, a serious problem in Brazil. The Justice Ministry has spent almost $600 million on heightened security for this cup, and visitors should remain alert at all times, especially in the host cities of Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Fortaleza, Recife, Rio de Janeiro and Salvador. Crimes most likely to affect tourists are theft, robbery and credit card and ATM fraud.
