Shannon Connell, 18, a recent graduate of the Key School has wanted to attend her father's alma mater, the University of Maryland-College Park, since she was a toddler. Yet, the first time the teen applied, her application was turned down. That would be a real heartbreaker for the average teen. She ignored the rejection. Though it might have been easier to move on to Plan B and find another college, that's not Shannon's style. She quickly appealed the college's decision.
