Sandy Hook Victim Inspires Many, Who Inspire His Mom To Try A Triathlon

MONROE — Rebecca Kowalski stood at the finish line of the kids triathlon bearing her son's name last year when somebody asked her when she was going to compete in a triathlon. Please. She couldn't do that. Her son Chase, one of the first-graders killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, was the runner, the swimmer, the triathlete of the family. Sure, Kowalski had run in some 5Ks, but she didn't particularly enjoy it. She organized races for the Race4Chase Kids Triathlon program. She and her husband Steve and a group of friends started the CMAK Sandy Hook Memorial Foundation to try to help the scarred community heal using family and child-based initiatives...
