Lincoln Park’s Lakeshore Sport and Fitness has been sued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for allegedly failing to protect an employee from sexual harassment by a co-worker.
The EEOC filed the lawsuit Wednesday in Chicago federal court after first attempting to reach a settlement through a conciliation process, the agency said in a news release Thursday.
According to the agency’s investigation, the gym fired a female restaurant employee, Shelita Bridges, after she repeatedly complained about unwelcome comments and touching by a male supervisor. Another female restaurant employee, Shayleaf Alsberry, also allegedly was harassed.
