A long-awaited state mental health report on the man accused of fatally shooting a Wesleyan University student should be complete in about a month, Middlesex State's Attorney Timothy J. Liston said Tuesday.
Liston was in court for a hearing in the case against Stephen Morgan, 31, of Marblehead, Mass. Morgan has pleaded not guilty to killing Wesleyan junior Johanna Justin-Jinich, 21, of Timnath, Colo., inside a bookstore cafe near campus in May 2009.
Morgan's lawyers say he was mentally ill at the time. They say two physicians hired by the defense evaluated Morgan and will testify about his mental disease or defect at the time of the slaying.
