Three Years Later, Newtown Quietly Moves Forward

NEWTOWN — It is a catalog of love, of concern. There are letters from Afghanistan and 62 other countries. There are 58 folders of letters from Michigan, and from every other state.

And when Andrea Zimmerman saw the similar televised images of the memorials and the flood of grief after the deadly attack in Paris in November, she flashed back to Newtown's tiny village of Sandy Hook, when it was covered with handmade declarations of sympathy and support. And she felt again the emotion that had motivated her and a team of other Newtown volunteers to preserve more than 250,000 of the cards and letters mailed to the town hall and town schools.
