Middletown police officer Anthony Gennaro in Tuesday’s Republican primary for the 100th House District defeated planning and zoning commissioner Tyrell Brown.
Gennaro, 41, will face Democrat Quentin “Q” Phipps in the November election.
Brown, 20, was endorsed by the Republican Town Committee in July, but Gennaro gathered signatures to force the primary.
“It’s time for us to start working together and start fixing Connecticut,” Gennaro said.
Gennaro said Brown called him to concede the race and offer his support in the future.
“I’m one of them, it’s really that simple,” Gennaro said of why he received the support of the Republican voters. “I relate to them....
