Last year, Trey Cormier finished second in the CCC cross country championship meet. A little over a week later, in the Class L meet, he went out hard, took the lead, but then faded on the hill at Wickham Park known as the “Green Monster.”
A year older and wiser, and in better shape, Cormier, a Hall junior, took the lead on the hill from defending champion Joe Pearl of Manchester and held it to win the CCC title in 16:13 Tuesday on a cool, sunny afternoon at Wickham.
Pearl, a senior, was second in 16:23, and Tolland sophomore Killian McNamee was third (16:30). Hall won the boys team title with 42 points, followed by Tolland (90 points) and Glastonbury (130).
