An autopsy today found a woman found in a vacant South Side building died of stab wounds, authorities said.
Denise Warfield, 47, died of multiple stab and incise wounds and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.Few details were available, but at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, the woman's body was found in a vacant building in the West Englewood neighborhood on the 7200 block of South Ashland Avenue, according to Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
Warfield, of the 7300 block of South Winchester Avenue, was pronounced dead at 6:30 p.m. Saturday on the scene, according to the medical examiner's office.Two men who entered the building found the body of the woman, who appeared to be in her 40s, according to sources. The vacant building had been used as a church in the past.
Detectives were on the scene and the investigation was ongoing.
