The former vice president of an Aurora-based engineering firm was sentenced to six months in the DuPage County Jail after pleading guilty today to using the firm’s corporate credit card to ring up $870,000 in personal expenses over a seven-year span.
Tami Brown, 53, of the 1600 block of Clarkson Court in Naperville, pleaded guilty to theft over $100,000 on the day that she was expected to begin a jury trial.
Brown, who has no previous criminal history, faced a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, before she accepted the six-month jail sentence and the two years of probation. She has also previously settled a civil lawsuit against her by the firm for about $400,000, said prosecutors.
A company internal audit uncovered the theft.
