An 85-year-old woman was pronounced dead after a fire ripped through her mobile home in southwest suburban Hodgkins this afternoon, officials said.

Lydia Elder, of the 6200 block of Lawn Drive, was pronounced dead at 2:17 p.m. at LaGrange Community Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, officials said.

Firefighters were called after 1 p.m. for a report of a fire in a mobile home at the Valley Oaks mobile park, said Richard Lange, a battalion chief with the Pleasant View Fire Protection District.

The fire was contained to Elder's trailer which was completely destroyed, Lange said. There was slight damage to surrounding trailers due to the heat, said Lange.

The Illinois State Fire Marshall's office is investigating the cause and origin of the blaze, Lange said.

There were no other injuries reported, Lange said.
