Cynthia Rosenwinkel, 45, of the 1400 block of Little Rock Road, was taken into custody after a Kendall County warrant was issued for her arrest on the charges of aggravated battery to a child, Kendall County Sheriff's officials said in a press release. She was ordered held on $500,000 bail, officials said.
Rosenwinkel was arrested for a Feb. 24 incident in which paramedics were called to a home on the block where the woman lived in unincorporated Plano. The boy was hospitalized with head injuries and hospital officials contacted Illinois Department of Children Family Services about the incident.
DCFS officials alerted Kendall County police and were notified by Rockford Memorial Hospital officials that the injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome, police said. Kendall County detectives began investigating and determined that the injuries were consistent with being shaken and that the boy had sustained an impact injury to his head, police said.
The woman was taking care of the boy when the injuries occurred. After an extensive investigation, a warrant was issued Monday and she was arrested.
Police refused to say what relationship the woman had with the boy other than saying that she served as a "caretaker, baby sitter for the child."firstname.lastname@example.org
