There's nothing like sitting down to a three-course meal prepared by a top-name chef. But at Taste of Chicago?

If the City Council gives the OK, that could be an option in July.

An ordinance going before the City Council Wednesday would allow the addition of a separate-admission attraction to the annual food and entertainment festival, according to Cindy Gatziolis of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.

What's envisioned is a "Celebrity Chef du Jour" tent, featuring a different chef each day; for a $40 fee (tax and tip included), patrons would meet the chef while tucking into a three-course, sit-down meal.

Taste-goers would be able to sample, for example, a meal prepared by Stephanie Izard. Which might be the average person's best chance to try Izard's food, given how notoriously difficult it is to get a reservation at her restaurant, Girl & the Goat.

Other chefs who are unofficially on board (nothing's official until the City Council gives the thumbs-up): Jimmy Bannos (Heaven on Seven, Purple Pig), Graham Elliot (Graham Elliot, Grahamwich), Carlos Gaytan (Mexique) and Tony Mantuano (Spiaggia, Terzo Piano, Bar Toma).

And to make sure the whole thing doesn't seem too one-percenty, each day's featured chef also will conduct a cooking demonstration at the Dominick's Cooking Tent (admission free) and will create a single food item (prepared with help by Washburne Culinary Institute students) that will be sold at the Taste of Chicago site.

Taste of Chicago runs July 11-15 in Grant Park.
