50-mile per hour winds blew off a window from the third floor of the Macy's at Water Tower Place Thursday night.

A third-story window at a Magnificent Mile department store crashed to the ground as powerful winds hit downtown Thursday night, prompting police to block several lanes of traffic but causing no injuries, authorities said.

The window fell about 8:30 p.m. from a store in the Water Tower Place shopping center at 835 North Michigan Avenue, Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

Police blocked all lanes on Michigan except one for several blocks as workers cleared the debris.
