A Chicago man was hit by a car after running from Illinois State Police during a traffic stop in Itasca Saturday.

Marvin Estes, 33, is being held for resisting a peace officer and for three outstanding warrants, but police couldn't say what he was wanted for. He ran from police after a traffic stop in the outbound lanes of Interstate 290 at Irving Park Road, according to the Illinois State Police.

Estes ran west across all lanes of traffic, into a nearby hotel, then back east and made it across three lanes of traffic before being hit by an inbound vehicle about 5:45 p.m., police said.

He was taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, where his condition had stabilized. Police closed some lanes of traffic for the investigation but everything has since been re-opened, they said.
