An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a slaying in Sauk Village after Cook County sheriff’s police found him hiding in a basement in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, authorities say.

Police say the man is suspected of killing Zonnie Johnson, 20, who lived in the 22400 block of Clyde Avenue in Sauk Village. Authorities believe the suspect shot Johnson near 216th Street and Jeffery Avenue about 8 p.m. on Sept. 18.

Johnson died the following night.

The suspect was arrested by the Cook County sheriff’s police warrant unit after they “pursued information”  and found the teen in a basement in the 7700 block of South May Street in Chicago.
