The girl was spending the night at a friend’s place in Chicago’s Gresham neighborhood when George Oliver, 59, entered a bedroom and fondled the girl in the early hours of March 2, according to Cook County prosecutors. Oliver is the boyfriend of the friend’s grandmother, they added.
The young girl jumped up, ran out of the room and called her mother, who drove to the apartment in the 8900 block of South Vincennes Avenue and called 911, prosecutors said. Oliver allegedly rubbed the girl’s chest and other areas of her body through her clothing.
Oliver, of the 500 block of West Fifth Street in Aurora, was “highly intoxicated” when police arrived at the apartment, police reports state. He was later charged with predatory criminal sexual assault, a felony.
The 12-year-old girl was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where an emergency room physician treated her, according to police reports.
Oliver was ordered to stay away from the girl and held in lieu of $200,000 bail.
