Police arrested Lavelle Scott, 23, early Saturday morning near his apartment in the Edgewater area after the Lombard girl told a witness of the attack. Scott was aggressive toward officers, and he was shocked with a Taser, according to a police report.
On Sunday, Cook County Judge James Brown ordered Scott held on $350,000 bail on a charge of criminal sexual assault.
The girl ran away Monday, and she met Scott at a party Friday, Assistant State’s Attorney Terry Clancy said. Scott’s girlfriend invited her back to their apartment in the 1000 block of West Hollywood Avenue, but she soon grew uneasy and left early Saturday morning, Clancy said.
Scott followed her into the lobby of the apartment building, where he wrapped his arm around her neck and put his hand over her mouth, acts that were caught on camera, Clancy said. Scott then pulled the girl into a parking garage and raped her, Clancy said.
The girl found a person nearby and reported the attack, but Scott approached, pulled the girl away and shoved the witness, Clancy said. The girl broke free, and police responded and arrested Scott over his resistance, authorities said.
