Police are investigating the death of a Midlothian 2-year-old boy who died from head trauma Thursday afternoon, officials said.

Lavandis Hudson, of the 3600 block of West 147th Place, was pronounced dead at 1:45 p.m. at Advocate Hope Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Midlothian police were alerted Thursday to dispatch an ambulance to the home for a child, according to a spokesman for the department. 

While the child showed signs of head trauma, the cause was pending autopsy results, according to the medical examiner's office.

Police said the incident was being classified as a death investigation pending the autopsy scheduled for today.
