An autopsy today determined the death of a woman found at her South Holland home was a homicide, authorities said.

Rachel Galbreath, 33, of the 16700 block of South State Street, died of multiple injuries from an assault, according to an autopsy report from the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Galbreath, whose death was ruled a homicide, was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:37 a.m. at her south suburban home Friday, according to the medical examiner's office.

South Holland Police Sgt. Jill Mackowiak said this afternoon police are conducting an ongoing death investigation after they were called to the State Street address at 10:23 a.m. and found her body.

Mackowiak said authorities are interviewing her associates and trying to notify the next of kin.

"The location has been secured," said the sergeant.

Police detectives are working with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.
