5-month-old ejected in West Side car crash.

Multiple citations have been issued for a West Side woman behind the wheel of a minivan that crashed on the West Side this morning ejecting a 5-month-old boy leaving him critically injured, police said.

Angela Mingo, 26, of the 5000 block of West Ferdinand Street, was cited with failure to keep in lanes, no child restraint system, no valid driver’s license, and no insurance, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Ana Pacheco.

About 1:30 a.m., Mingo was driving a 1999 Pontiac Montana northbound in the 500 block of North Pulaski Road when she lost control and hit a fence and a pole, causing the minivan to flip over, said Pacheco.

A 5-month-old boy, who police said was Mingo’s child, was ejected from the minivan, said police.

Pacheco said the baby was critically hurt and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. Mingo was also taken there but she was not injured, Pacheco said.

A 23-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man who were passengers were not hurt, said Pacheco.

The Chicago Police Department's Major Accidents Investigation Unit was investigating.
