Garage Fire Arrests

Two men have been charged in a South Side garage fire earlier this week that authorities labeled as arson.

Rafael Delgado, 39, and Anthony Ray Catala, 19, were arrested in connection with a garage fire reported about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 2900 block of South Canal Street.

Delgado, who lives in the 800 block of West 32nd Street, has been charged with one felony count of arson, one count of property damage over $150 and one count of theft or control under $500, according to the Chicago Police Department.

When police arrested him, Delgado was found with a baseball bat and spotlight that had been reported stolen, police said.

Catala, of the who lives in the 3200 block of South Union Avenue, was charged with one felony count of arson and one count of property damage over $150.

Delgado and Catala were each ordered held in lieu of $500,000 bail in a hearing today before Criminal Court Judge Maria Kuriakos-Ciesil.
