Northlight production headed to Ireland

'The Outgoing Tide' at Northlight Theatre.

A rare chance to see two of Chicago's most accomplished and well-loved actors -- John Mahoney and Rondi Reed -- spilling out their guts in a moving, simple and honest new play by Bruce Graham about what happens when an older person realizes that he is losing his mental faculties and decides he no longer wants to live. This was a picture of love under the kind of stress that has afflicted, or will afflict, so many of us who share the experience. (May 22, 2012)

Northlight Theatre's production of Bruce Graham's "The Outgoing Tide," a play dealing with the effects of aging, is headed to the Galway Arts Festival in Ireland, replete with the original Northlight cast of John Mahoney, Rondi Reed and Thomas J. Cox.

Artistic director BJ Jones said that "the entire cast enthusiastically returns to this production." The Galway Arts Festival is slated for July 17-21 in the scenic Irish city; attendance typically tops 150,000 people at 176 performances coming from all over the world. The festival has a long-standing relationship with Chicago theater companies, including Northlight.

"The Outgoing Tide," directed by Jones, premiered at Northlight in May, 2011.
