Two traffic crashes tonight required multiple-ambulance responses from the Chicago Fire Department.
An Emergency Medical Services Plan 1 was called to send about six ambulances to the scene of a vehicle crash on the South Side in the city's Avalon Park neighborhood, officials said.
The accident happened about 7:15 p.m. near the intersection of 83rd Street and Stony Island Avenue, according to Fire Media Affairs information.
Six people were taken to hospitals from that crash, one in serious-to-critical condition and five in fair-to-serious condition. Four other people declined treatment at the scene.
Shortly after 8 p.m. another EMS Plan 1 was called for a traffic crash on the 2900 block of North Natchez Avenue on the Northwest Side.
Eight people were taken to hospitals from that crash, four in serious-to-critical condition, one in fair-to-serious condition and three in good-to-fair condition.
As of 8:30 p.m., both accident locations had been secured.
