McHenry County Board Chairwoman Tina Hill Tuesday postponed a controversial re-appointment of Republican Party insider Al Jourdan to the Regional Transportation Authority Board.

"We need time to facilitate interviews between board members and Mr. Jourdan," Hill said during a county board meeting today in Woodstock.

"It's important to get to the truth rather than pay attention to the grandstanding that's going on," added board member Anna May Miller, chairwoman of the board's Transportation Committee.

On Monday, state Rep. Jack Franks, D-Marengo, and state Sen. Dan Duffy, R-Barrington, issued a statement urging McHenry County Board members to appoint "an independent, reform-minded member" to the RTA board.

Jourdan is a former state GOP chairman.

No timetable for the appointment was set during Tuesday's County Board meeting.
