Man OK after falling on tracks at South Loop 'L' station

A man was helped back onto a Green Line platform in the South Loop after falling onto the tracks there this afternoon, authorities said.

The man was being taken to a local hospital for evaluation, but did not appear to be seriously injured after falling onto the tracks at the Roosevelt Road Green Line stop, 22 E. Roosevelt Road, about 1:25 p.m., said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.

Service did not have to be interrupted after the person, who appeared to have been intoxicated, fell on the tracks and then was helped back up by another passenger, said CTA spokeswoman Lambrini Lukidis. The person who fell did not make contact with a train or the third rail, she said.
