Officials: Teen found fatally shot in Englewood stairwell

A teenage boy was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound in a stairwell in the Englewood neighborhood Sunday afternoon, officials said.

Police were called to the 6500 block of South Bishop Street for a report of an unconscious man at 3:07 p.m., officials said.

When they arrived at the scene they found a man dead in a stairwell leading to a basement at the home, police said.

The victim was later identified as Corderro Brown, 17, of the 5700 block of South Ada Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The man appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound to his head in an apparent homicide, according to the medical examiner's office.

Hours later, about 9:45 p.m. a 23-year-old woman arrived at Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said.

The woman had been shot near the intersection of West Fullerton and North Western avenues, Police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said. She was in good condition, Gaines said.

A 21-year-old man was also sustained a gunshot wound to the foot Sunday night, about 9:55 p.m. in the 8300 block of South Colfax Avenue.

The man was taken to South Shore Hospital, police said. The circumstances of the shooting were not immediately clear.

In addition, a 27-year-old man died Sunday after being shot in the South Chicago neighborhood on August 14, officials said.

Lorenzo Feliciano was pronounced dead today at 2:42 p.m. at Kindred North Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Feliciano was shot on the 8500 block of South Oglesby Avenue which is the same block where he lived, officials said.

Feliciano was shot about 9:25 p.m. on Aug. 14. He had been in critical condition after being shot in the chest and neck.

An autopsy is scheduled for both cases on Monday.
