A 49-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition after being shot three times during an attempted robbery at an auto shop in the East Side neighborhood, police said.
The shooting happened at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday inside a muffler shop in the 10500 block of South Avenue B, according to Chicago police.
Police said it appeared the victim was wounded during an attempted hold-up, but it was unclear whether the victim was either a store owner or clerk.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.
No one was in custody as Area South detectives investigated the shooting.
