Police are asking for the public's help after a 19-year-old man was shot and killed in Evanston tonight.

Police responded to several calls of shots fired about 6:15 p.m. and found the 19-year old man shot on the parkway in the 1800 block of Brown Avenue, Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said in a statement.

Evanston Fire paramedics transported the victim to North Shore University Health System in Evanston where he was pronounced dead, Parrott said.

A spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office identified the man as Justin Murray, of the same block where he was shot. He was pronounced dead about 7 p.m. at Evanston Hospital.

No one is in custody and police are asking anyone with information regarding this homicide to call the Evanston Police Department at (847) 866-5000.
